Brookfield Plant
50 Years in Brookfield.
2015 was a special year in our history. The Lafarge Brookfield Cement Plant has been part of our community since 1965. So in 2015, we celebrated our 50th anniversary in different ways throughout the year.
Since the construction of the plant, our entire workforce has lived in the area and we are proud to provide good, well-paying jobs. So, we have a stake in the community, too, and we work really hard to be good neighbours. For more than 50 years, we’ve helped build Nova Scotia. Our cement has been used in roads, schools, and hospitals right across the province.
Lafarge Brookfield communicates very closely with residents and public officials. We meet regularly with Community Liaison Council made up of residents and officials to discuss how we can better contribute to the community.
We maintain an ‘open door’ policy and always welcome tours of our facility and questions about our operations.
Lafarge is proud to be a supportive neighbour in the Brookfield community and aims to support many charities and events in the area.
Through our ‘Deep Roots’ initiative, we continue to support and give back to our local community on an annual basis through a combination of monetary sponsorships, in-kind donations and staff volunteer hours.
Lafarge has been involved with local organizations and events such as Brookfield Homecoming, the Brookfield Athletic Association and the Junior B Elks.
